Wedding, portrait and commercial photographers
Image-led photographer website design for work that needs to sell
Photographer website design should get out of the way of your pictures, then step forward at exactly the right moment to turn admiration into a booking. I also bring the part most portfolio sites skip: I work in SEO, so couples and clients can find you by style and location, not only by referral. You get a minimal, affordable website with galleries that load fast, clear packages and an enquiry that starts with a simple date check.

The problem with most portfolios
Beautiful photos on a slow, confusing site still lose the booking.
They load slowly
Huge, uncompressed images on heavy templates. A couple sees a blank screen on their phone and moves on to the next photographer.
They show everything
Hundreds of images with no edit. Quantity dilutes your best work and makes your style harder to read.
They hide the next step
No prices, no process, a contact form buried at the bottom. Admiration fades before anyone gets in touch.
The structure
A portfolio that leads somewhere
Every page on a photographer's website should move someone one step closer to booking.
Curated portfolio categories
Weddings, elopements, portraits or commercial work, each with a tight edit of your strongest images and a sentence about your approach.
Real stories
Full galleries from real weddings or shoots, written up as stories. They show consistency across a whole day and rank for venue and location searches.
Packages and prices
"From" prices, what is included and optional extras, presented calmly so the numbers feel considered.
About you
Clients hire a person to be with them on an important day. A warm, honest about page with a photo of you matters more than you think.
A simple enquiry flow
Start with the date and location. A short first step gets more replies than a long questionnaire.
Speed without compromise
Images that load in a blink
Speed matters more for photographers than almost anyone. Here is how I get it without softening your work.
- Modern image formatsSmaller files with the same visible quality, served automatically to browsers that support them.
- The right size for each screenPhones get phone-sized images, large monitors get larger ones.
- Lazy loadingImages further down the page load as visitors scroll, so the first screen appears instantly.
- No heavy page builderA lean, static site that puts all its weight into your pictures, not the code around them.
Being found
Venues, locations and the searches in between
Couples search for photographers by location and venue: "Edinburgh wedding photographer", "elopement photographer Isle of Skye", "photos at [venue name]". Real wedding stories, named and described properly, are some of the best pages a photographer can publish for those searches.
Image-heavy sites often have almost no readable text, which leaves search engines guessing. I give every gallery and story a proper title, description, alt text and a few meaningful paragraphs, using the same SEO-ready structure as all my sites.
Choosing what to show
Edit like a client is watching
Show the work you want more of
If you want more elopements, lead with elopements, even if weddings pay the bills today. A portfolio attracts whatever it shows.
Mix the big moments and the quiet ones
The first kiss matters, but so do the in-between frames. Couples book photographers who notice the small, honest details.
Refresh each season
Swap in a handful of new images every few months. It keeps the site current and gives you a reason to share it again.

Will my photos lose quality if you optimise them for speed?
Not visibly. I serve images in modern formats at the right size for each screen, so a phone downloads a phone-sized image and a large monitor gets a sharper one. Your work looks just as good and loads far faster.
How many images should my portfolio include?
Fewer than most photographers think. A tight edit of twenty to forty of your strongest images per category sells better than two hundred. Full galleries belong in blog posts or client galleries.
Should I show prices?
Showing "packages from" prices filters out mismatched enquiries and builds confidence. Many photographers find they get fewer but better enquiries once prices are visible.
Can the site link to my client gallery platform?
Yes. Whether you deliver through Pixieset, ShootProof, Pic-Time or similar, I link your client area neatly from the site without mixing it into your public portfolio.
What does a photographer website cost?
From £590 for a Starter Website, £1,250 for a Business Website with portfolio categories, packages and an enquiry flow, and £1,750 for Website + Visibility with local SEO. The price we agree is final.
